JP I has officially reached its end – and while JP II is in development, we have a ways to go before we are ready to publish it. Please refer to this post for details.
This is a cross-post of the hiatus announcement from a few weeks ago:
As a heads up, JP is going to go on an indefinite hiatus after this story arc’s completion. Don’t worry, that’s not indefinite-like-secretly-forever, but we wanted to take some time to make sure that the next storyline is going to be as airtight as possible before we start releasing it. In the process, we’ve decided to address some of our pain points from JP 1—things that we wish we hadn’t locked ourselves into when we first started the comic, but did out of a lack of experience. That’s the thing about starting your first webcomic: you never really know what you need to do to make it work until you’re long out of the gate and totally regretting something that happened in the first chapter or so that you wish you hadn’t done.
What does that mean? Well, we’re going to be revamping the comic, and bringing it back in the next year or so, picking up where we left off, only better than before.
What does that mean for you guys? We’re going to keep the site up for as long as our hosting lasts, and then let it expire (in August or so, I think). But we really like you guys—like a lot, you’ve been wonderful readers and we always love hearing what you guys think—and want to keep you clued in on the development process for the future of the comic. We’re going to be starting a mailing list as a sort of newsletter for people who want to keep up on with what we’re doing on the comic, from character designs (and redesigns) to conceptual sketches and documents outlining new things that we’re hashing out. Maybe a preview as we get closer? (I’m not making that promise but we’ll keep it in mind). The list is open for (free!) subscription below. You can also follow Kelsey’s tumblr with artwork, and while it won’t stay JP Exclusive, expect to see some peeks at the future of the comic there.
(Note: we’re still hashing out the content of the mailing list, but how often would you like to be updated on things? Keep it reasonable, please, but we’d love to keep you guys in the loop. Also, don’t worry, we won’t use your information for anything other than letting you know what’s going on JP-wise. You can trust us, because we hate spamish and annoying e-mails probably as much as you all do.)
